ABOUT US

Impacting Racial Inequity Through Building Knowledge of Financial Literacy.

The Empowerment Project NFP is a non-profit organization driven by the desire to eliminate racial inequality in underserved communities in the Chicago area. We seek to provide a lasting solution to racial inequality and financial literacy in these environs by building knowledge in financial literacy.

Built around a network of experienced and passionate people who care about financial literacy and racial equality, we have come together to provide lasting solutions.

To achieve this aim, The Empowerment Project NFP is designed to understand the unique problem faced by these small communities. Considering accounting, finance, and small businesses, we'll help establish a more financially stable economy through self-driven learning programs.

Our History

Racial equity has become an apparent need in underserved communities. From the lack of access to proper finances to poor credit scores due to excessive loans and credit abuse, the impact of racial inequality has always been a huge problem.

According to Tisdell, Taylor, and Forte (2016), financial literacy should be addressed from a cultural context that addresses underserved communities by understanding emotions and money management.

Coming from a background with a passion for math, accounting, finance, and small business, we believe Financial Literacy seems to be an unaddressed gap in communities of color.  This organization was created with this issue in mind.

The Empowerment Project NFP believes that everyone should have access to quality financial knowledge. Thus, making it possible for people in the underserved communities to make wiser decisions regarding their finances.
